3/4/2019 0 Comments Continuous improvementscontinuous improvement can be defined as dedication to making small changes and improvements every day. This is hard to master and takes a lot of steps according to James Clear's article "Continuous improvement: How it works and how to master it" In order to better yourself, you must take the necessary steps to improve your daily life. This doesn't come easy and can be slow at first but in the end James Clear shows how important those small differences actually are. For example he has a small chart which shows us that if we do 1% better everyday than by the end of the year we would have been 37% better than when we started. There are 3 steps James has provided us with and they are: do more of what already works, avoid tiny losses and measure backwards. Following these steps will lead you to mass improvements. Doing more of what already works may be the simplest step because you're already doing it you just have to continue to do so. For example keep doing your homework or keep remembering to take the dog out for a walk. The second step which is avoid tiny losses is as simple as it sounds but more easier said than done. You need to stop forgetting to exercise and stop procrastinating. These can be tough to do but when you have overcome them you feel much more accomplished, The last step is to measure backwards. You know how you always focus on the future? well stop doing that and begin to focus on your past. Don't dwell on your past or mourn about it but learn from it and gather information that will help you in the future when making decisions. You can learn plenty from your past mistakes so that you don't make the same ones in the future. I think James Clear's article fully explains this in detail to make the reader understand how to improve their daily life. It is very important to remember you can do or accomplish anything you set your mind to. Don't dwell on your mistakes, instead ask yourself how you can learn from it.

2/28/2019 0 Comments Rethink setting goalsin James Clear's article on whether or not habits are better than goals, I found myself rethinking my everyday obstacles and problems. In his article he explains how goals are only temporary and habits are constant and always occurring. I totally agree with his point, When people think of habits they usually think of it as a bad thing but there are good habits we can obtain too. Biting our nails and not changing the milk bag when its empty seem like minuscule tasks that won't have a big affect on our life, but I believe that when we create good habits of these things we can actually start improving in our daily life with much bigger obstacles than just taking out the garbage. Our mentality can quickly change when we start having good habits, we begin to believe we can get more done in the day. Eventually these habits will end in our favorable outcome because we'll be more proud of the little things we got done. Goals are more like these temporary things we promise ourselves we will do in the moment, we have a burst of motivation and may or may not get that goal accomplished. If the goal gets accomplished or not doesn't matter because by the end of it you feel the same way, empty. The goal won't make you happy for long because your bad habit still exists and will come back to bite you. James Clear explains this very well in his article by saying "You treated a system without addressing the cause" in this scenario the system is like your goals and the cause is your habits. 2/20/2019 0 Comments Digital citizenshipDigital citizenship is the quality of habits, actions and consumption patterns. All students need digital citizenship skills to fully interact and be involved in their communities, as well as being smart with the way they approach social media and life. There's no doubt, our world is always changing. Technology is becoming more advanced and harder to understand. We need to teach the new generation how to use it productively and efficiently. We have to show students the pros and cons of social media and how to use it in a way that it doesn't consume their valuable life. Technology has opened doors for new opportunities and more options so the new generation can take advantage of. Our world is always changing, we have to adapt and change along with it. We have to make way for technology and all it has to offer in order to stay relevant in the world. |
